Below is a reprint of an article from Canton Township from 2020:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixGuard wixui-rich-text__text\">\u200b<\/span><\/span>Canton\u2019s Ordinance Department has received several complaints regarding rats in different neighborhoods. The following information should help reduce the attraction of rats and other rodents from becoming an infestation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Rats are inclined to nest in suburban areas. They take this course if they can access the fundamental necessities of food, water, and shelter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><br class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" \/><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">The key to preventing a rat infestation on your property is eliminating access to these necessities. You can discourage rats and mice from taking up residence on your property by removing food and water sources and shelter items such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\">\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Leaf piles<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Wood stored on the ground<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Junk\/debris\/garbage piles<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Old furniture and other debris in which to make their homes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Check structures without rat walls. Rats can dig burrows along or under structures. Burrow entrance\/exit holes are typically 2-4 inches in diameter.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Clean up food and water sources in and near your house.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Stop feeding outdoor birds, or use feeders that do not spill onto the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">Dog feces attract rats. It is important that residents first check with their HOA to make sure a project meets all subdivision requirements. Unfortunately, Canton cannot issue permit refunds for permits reviewed, issued, and then canceled due to violations of HOA requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font_8 wixui-rich-text__text\"><span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\">We have attached a letter explaining this process change that we are asking you to share with your HOA members.
