Subdivision Landscaping

The Landscaping Committee plays a vital role in maintaining the natural beauty of Nowland Estates, focusing on our community’s common areas, including berms, landscape buffer zones, retention/detention ponds, and median islands. Our activities are aimed at enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality of these spaces, ensuring they remain inviting for all residents.

Key Activities of the Landscaping Committee:

Tree Trimming Above Sidewalks:

To comply with Canton Township ordinances, tree branches must be trimmed to at least seven (7) feet above all sidewalks. This is essential for the safety of pedestrians and bike riders.

Learn more about Canton Township Ordinances.

Dead Tree Removal:

We ask residents to remove any dead trees from their yards, as they can be unsightly and pose hazards if they break or fall. Please also replace any dead or missing trees in the zones between the sidewalk and the street.

Annual and Perennial Planting:

The committee plants annuals and maintains perennials throughout our common areas, ensuring vibrant and seasonal displays.

Maintenance of Monuments and Lighting:

We take pride in the upkeep of community monuments and lighting, enhancing our neighborhood’s charm.

Contract Services:

We contract for grass cutting, fertilizing, and Spring & Fall clean-up programs to maintain the health and appearance of our landscapes.

Mulching:

We also contract for fresh mulch around the plantings on the berms, which adds aesthetic appeal and helps retain moisture.

Holiday Decorations:

During the holiday season, our committee decorates community monuments to celebrate and enhance the festive spirit.
